The biographical of the late great actor Zaki will hit screens in Ramadan 2021

Egypt star actor Mohamed Ramadan has revealed that he has been cast in the protagonist's role in a biographical television series portraying the life and career of renowned late actor Ahmed Zaki.

Tiled Emperor, the series is scheduled to be released during Ramadan 2021. Full cast and crew details of the series are yet to be revealed.

Portraying Zaki is not new to Ramadan. Fifteen years ago, when still paving his way to success, Ramadan was cast in a secondary role portraying Zaki in the series Cinderella (2006) that focused on the life and career of Egypt's late legendary actress Souad Hosny.

In an old programme of the television show Kol Youm, hosted by Amr Adeeb, Ramadan revealed that the series director Samir Seif (1947-2019) initially refused to audition Ramadan for the role of Zaki when he saw him among other candidates in the waiting room of a film agency. Ramadan insisted to demonstrate his skills and immediately grabbed Seif's attention when he did.

Ever since Cinderella, Ramadan began receiving bigger roles and his career eventually skyrocketed in the past few years. He is now among the top sought after and the highest paid actors of Egypt's cinema industry.

According to an Al-Ahram report in May, Ramadan was paid EGP 18 million for his role in The Prince, a highly successful television series screened last Ramadan.

Most recently Ramadan began exploring rap, releasing music videos of his singles.

One of the biggest actors of his generation and praised across the Arab world, Ahmed Zaki (1949-2005), was praised for his talent and acting skill since appearing at a young age in films and theatre. Known for his on-screen intensity, Zaki was often referred to as “Sbel," in reference to his role in the classic comedy play Madrast Al-Mushaghebeen (The School for Troublemakers).
