Zamalek resumed their training on Thursday after four months of recess during which time football activities were suspended nationwide.

French coach Patrice Carteron decided to divide the players into two groups to maintain social distancing between the players, in accordance with the instructionsof the sports and youth ministry.

The team will travel to Borg El-Arab in Alexandria directly after Thursday's training to enter a closed camp.

Egypt has suspended sports activities since mid-March due to the coronavirus outbreak, but the government has decided to allow sports to resume starting 20 June.

Starting from 1 July Egypt has been gradually going back to normal as it has reopened airports for regular international flights, restaurants, sporting clubs and mosques under strict precautionary measures and lifted the country’s nighttime curfew.

The government has given the green light to resume the league starting from 25 July. The Egyptian Football Association has already conducted medical tests for all the clubs and many have already resumed their trainings.

Until now Zamalek has four positive coronavirus cases: a staffer and three players -- Mostafa Fathi, Mohamed Awad, and Karim Bambo.

Zamalek are now in fourth place on the Egyptian Premier League table with 31 points after 16 matches, 18 points behind leaders Ahly who collected 49 points from 17 matches.
