Chelsea's new signing Hakim Ziyech said on Wednesday he is delighted after joining the Blues, adding that it "means a lot" to be playing at Stamford Bridge.

Dutch giants Ajax have agreed to let Ziyech move to the Premier League side in February, before the Moroccan international officially became a Chelsea player at the start of this month.

"When you are a young guy you always want to play for a big club, in the Premier League of course," Ziyech told Chelsea's official website on Wednesday.

"When I was young, the players that played here, it was always a big club so I am very happy and it means a lot.

"I was playing in the youth in Heerenveen and here was playing Drogba, Lampard, Terry, all those big names. We were always for Chelsea, and if you look at now, if you can play here it means a lot to me."

The 27-year-old has scored 48 goals and provided 82 assists in 165 appearances with Ajax in all competitions since joining them in the summer of 2016.

He also scored 12 goals in 32 games with the Moroccan national team.
