Ahram Online, , Thursday 23 Jul 2020
The concert is being organised by the Beit Al-Oud Al-Arabi (The Arabic Oud House)

The Arab Oud Orchestra, made up of over 40 musicians, and representing Cairo's Beit Al-Oud Al-Arabi (The Arabic Oud House), will give an open-air performance at the Manasterly Palace on Sunday.

The concert will feature the professors, students and graduates of the Beit Al-Oud Al-Arabi, an institution established by the Cairo-based Iraqi oud virtuoso Naseer Shamma in the 1990s.

The concert is being organised by the Cultural Development Fund (CDF), a body operating under Egypt's Ministry of Culture. The CDF is in charge of the programming at dozens of cultural venues across Cairo and other cities.

Situated on Roda Island near Downtown Cairo, Manasterly Palace, built in 1850, incorporates many versions of traditional Islamic architecture styles -- Ottoman, Moorish, Persian.
The concert is being held in its open-air courtyard.

According to the CDF, the organisers are taking all preventive measures in order to safeguard the audience’s health, such as arranging the seating in order to ensure distancing between the attendees.

Programme:

Sunday 26 July, 8pm
Manasterly Palace, 1 El-Malek El-Saleh St.
Manial El-Roda, Cairo
