Egyptian actor Ibrahim El-Sharkawy passed away on Sunday at the age of 72 after struggling with diabetes.
"He had a big artistic journey and a long history of creativity," the National Theatre said in a statement mourning El-Sharkawy, who was also commemorated by many artists and institutions including the Actors Syndicate.
Born on 3 April 1948, El-Sharkawy took part in dozens of films, TV shows and theatre plays after graduating from the High Institute for Theatrical Arts in 1975.
His career flourished in the 80s and 90s. The actor played some memorable roles in films like 'El-Harafish', 'Al-Nemr Wal-Ontha' and 'El-Halfout,' in addition popular TV series like 'Mohammad Rasoul Allah', 'Arabesque' and 'Haroun El-Rashid.'
