Egypt’s health ministry reported 237 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total case tally nationwide to 98,062 cases since the detection of the first case in February.

The ministry bulletin also reported 25 new deaths, bringing the total fatalities from the virus to 5,342.

A total of 899 patients have been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries so far to 69,612.

Egypt has witnessed a slight increase in the daily tally of coronavirus cases since Monday.

Saturday saw the lowest daily toll in four months with only 89 infections.

Numbers have been increasing since the beginning of the week as 103 cases were reported on Sunday, 138 cases on Monday, 141 new cases on Tuesday, and 206 cases on Wednesday.
