Egypt's culture minister, Spanish ambassador discuss enhancing cultural cooperation

Abdel-Dayem emphasised the strength and depth of relations between Egypt and Spain, pointing to the richness of creativity in the European countries on the historical and modern levels


Egypt’s Minister of Culture Ines Abdel-Dayem met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of Spain Ramon Gil Casares and Spanish Cultural Advisor Candio Carbis Estrada to discuss reinforcing cultural and artistic cooperation in the coming period in light of COVID-19.

During the meeting, Abdel-Dayem emphasised the strength and depth of relations between Egypt and Spain, pointing to the richness of creativity in the European countries on the historical and modern levels.

She also stressed the need to support cultural and artistic exchange between the two countries during the coming period through the implementation of several innovative projects making use of the modern technological platforms to overcome the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Moreover, the minister welcomed a proposal from the Spanish side to start joint cultural projects, saying, "This cultural exchange is considered an addition to the tremendous contributions provided by both countries to human civilisation in various fields, and it will also help illuminate the path of knowledge for coming generations."

Spanish ambassador Casares said that he is following up closely on the cultural movement in Egypt and the Egyptian achievements, praising the measures taken by the Ministry of Culture to continue performing its role of enlightenment, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances witnessed by the entire world because of COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that his country is always interested in cultural and artistic communication with Egypt with its plurality and cultural diversity.

He also expressed his desire to exchange artistic performances with Egypt by broadcasting a number of performances on the Egyptian Ministry of Culture's culture YouTube channel, in addition to participating in “the Cultural Relations Initiative” launched by the minister of culture to shed light on the cultural ties between Egypt and Spain and to promote the idea of ​​the civilisational and cultural dialogue.
