Culture ministry's 'People of Egypt' programme creates bridges between youth in governorates and the capital

‘People of Egypt' programme organizes field trips to museums and other cultural locations as well as archaeological sites across Egypt for school children and youth from outside the capital


The ‘People of Egypt’ programme resumed activities after COVID-19 cultural shutdown with an aim to create bridges between children and youth living in Egypt's governorates and the capital, as well as helps them to see the riches outside their home locations.

In addition, the programme provides workshops and seminars aiming at boosting the integration of the people living in remote governorates and those inside the capital and the Delta region.

Launched by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with one of its arms, theGeneral Organisation of Culture Palaces, the programme organises field trips to museums and other cultural locations as well asarchaeological sites across Egypt for school children and youth.

Most recently, the programme included a field trip for the youth from outside Cairo to theAisha Fahmy Palace in Zamalek where the 5th exhibition in the “Treasures of Our Museums” series includes paintings and sculptures by great European artists of the 18th and 19th centuries. The same group has also had an opportunity to visit some archaeological sites.

Since its launch, the 'People of Egypt' programme has conducted80 visits to archaeological sites, 312 artistic workshops and presented 20 artistic performances across the venues operating under theGeneral Organisation of Culture Palaces.

In addition, youth forums have been held in Asmarat, Aswan, Matrouh, South and North Sinai, Marsa Matrouh, and other Egyptian cities and regions.

Also, as part of the programme, a number of women's forums have been held in cooperation with the National Council for Women, aiming to train and develop skills in crafts of the women living in governorates that are far from the capital.
