Egypt’s Court of Cassation upheld on Thursday a 10-year prison sentence against a police officer who killed a citizen in Maghagha city in Minya governorate in 2013.

According statements by the prosecution in 2013, police officer Mahmoud Abdel-Hady was stationed at a police checkpoint in the city of Maghagha when he fired multiple shots at a driver, Biram Abdullah, who was attempting to flee the checkpoint to avoid being searched.

Abdel-Hady also forged official documents related to the case, according to the prosecution.
