The festival runs between 22 and 29 October

The 13th edition of the Sama'a International Festival for Spiritual Music and Chanting kicked off on 22 October under the theme 'A Message of Peace to the World'.

The activities are held in three Cairo locations: the Saladin Citadel, Al-Ghoury Dome and the Coptic Museum.

Lebanon was chosen as the guest of honour for this edition of the event, and Umm Kalthum as the festival's main icon.

Continuing until 29 October and presided over by Intessar Abdel-Fattah, this year the festival is not seeing heavy international participation due to COVID-19.

Focusing on Egyptian or Egypt-based artists, the festival presents 20 groups representing a variety of spiritual ensembles, including those linked to Egyptian churches or foreign embassies.
