A high demand on Thursday's tickets is being reported, with the band requesting fans to avoid booking from the black market

Popular Egyptian band Cairokee will return after a long absence with a concert at ZED Park on Thursday 5 November, where they will perform a selection of their original songs.

Founded in 2003 by Amir Eid, Sherif El-Hawary, Tamer Hashem, Adam El-Alfy, and Sherif Mostafa later in 2008; Cairokee's first big success came in the post-25 January 2011 period with their hit single Sowt El-Horreya (The Voice of Freedom).

They then cemented their popularity with a number of albums including El-Sekka Shemal (An Indecent Path), Naas W Naas (People and People) and No'ta Beida (Drop of White), in addition to their latest Abna'a El-Battah El-Sawda'a (The Ugly Ducklings).

A high demand on Thursday's tickets is being reported, with the band requesting fans to avoid booking from the black market.

After touring Europe early 2020 performing in prestigious venues in Berlin, Paris and London, this is probably the first public event for Cairokee since the Coronavirus lock-down in March.

Egypt resumed public cultural activities in July as part of the country's cautious reopening following the COVID-19 lockdown. All events are held under strict measures that include social distancing, obligatory facemasks, and sanitising.

Meanwhile, the 29th Arab Music Festival is launching Sunday where almost a hundred musicians and singers from Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Tunisia will perform in Cairo, Alexandria, and Damanhour's opera houses. The performers include Ali El-Haggar, Medhat Saleh, Hany Shaker, Mohamed El-Helw, Nadia Mustafa, Soma, Iman Abdel-ghani, Medhat Saleh, Saber Al-Rabaei, Saad Ramadan and Humam Ibrahim, to name a few.

Programme
Thursday 5 November at 8pm
Zed Park, El-Sheikh Zayed
