Egyptian expats are set to start on Wednesday through Friday mailing out their ballot papers for the second phase of the new parliamentary elections to the country’s embassies and consulates in 124 countries.

Voters abroad, who had their data registered on the Egyptian National Election Authority (NEA) website ahead of the start of the elections, printed their ballot papers on Monday and Tuesday by entering their registration code on the NEA's website.

Voters must send in a sealed envelope with their individual and list votes, photocopies of their national ID cards or passports, and residency documents. The papers must be sent via express mail, as according to the NEA.

The second stage of the elections covers 13 governorates which include: Cairo, Qalyubiya, Dakahliya, Meoufiya, Gharbiya, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqiya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai.

Around 2,085 candidates are competing for 70 individual seats, while 284 candidates are competing under the list system in two districts.

A domestic vote for the second phase is set to follow on 7-8 November, with the results to be announced on 15 November.

The NEA announced the results of the first phase of the elections on Sunday, naming only 32 MPs who received the absolute majority of votes during that round. The other 220 seats are still up for grabs in a run-off later this month.
