President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi mourned the death of Bahraini Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa who passed away on Wednesday morning.

The president sent a cable of condolences to the Bahraini government and people, the presidential spokesman said in a statement.

The Bahraini prime minister, 84, was receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic, according to the country's news agency BNA.

Bahrain announced a week of mourning with flags flown at half-mast and work suspended in public entities for three days starting Thursday.
