Zamalek's management said they would prefer to wait until the end of the season and after the summer Olympic Games, after which they believe the 23-year-old could get a better offer

Zamalek's in-form striker, Mostafa Mohamed, has urged the club's management to agree on his transfer to play in the French League, after receiving a big offer from St. Etienne to join the team this winter.

The 23-year-old want-away attacker skipped last weekend'straining session without permission, as he put pressure on the club’s management into accepting the offer from French side Saint Etienne.

"I ask the club's management to be clear with my transfer, as they demanded a definite offer and I brought it, so they have to say their final word by agreeing to the offer or telling me that they won't offload me," Mostafa Mohamed told a television programme.

Mohamed has established himself as one of Zamalek's key players after a series of fine displays last season. He also started the new term in superb fashion, scoring twice in the two opening Egyptian Premier League games.

Zamalek’s management said they would prefer to wait until the end of the season and after the summer Olympic Games, after which they believe the 23-year-old could get a better offer.

"I say to Zamalek's fans that I am now [closing in on] 24 years of age and the chance of playing overseas will not come again," Mohamed said.

"They asked me to wait until the end of the Tokyo Olympic Games! And I guess it might be postponed, or I might not introduce a superb performance as management expects,"

"The Egyptian Premier League season won't be finished till after the Olympic Games, so it will be difficult for me to leave Zamalek if they compete for the title," Mohamed added.

French League giants Saint Etienne have reportedly raised their bid to sign Mostafa Mohamed to 4 million euros, which could be tempting for Zamalek, given their ongoing financial troubles following the sacking of their previous board of directors last month.

Mohamed, who has also become Egypt's first-choice striker, helped Zamalek win the African and Egyptian Super Cups last season. He finished as the 2019 U-23 African Cup of Nations top scorer with four goals, as the Pharaohs were crowned champions.

He returned to Zamalek in the summer of 2019 after ending a loan spell with Talae El-Geish. He scored 19 goals and provided four assists in 51 appearances last season.
