Egypt's Mohamed Mounir celebrates Police Day with new song

Iconic Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir, who is dubbed by fans as 'The King,' is releasing a single titled 'Abtal Regala' (Champion Men) on Monday marking the country's celebrations of the National Police Day.



"I have been busy preparing beautiful work dedicated to the martyrs of the Police department, our own security and safety," Mounir said CBC TV channel Saturday evening reassuring fans over his health condition.



With lyrics written by Ahmed Hassan Raul, Abtal Regala's composition made by Madian and arranged by Ahmed Adel, the Police Day song which marks Mounir's first video-clip of the year, is directed by Akram Farouk.



Mounir is continuing the release of his 2021 album titled after the first single 'Bab El-Gamal' ("The Door of Beauty") that was followed with a cover for Bahr Abou Greisha's Finak Ya Habibi ("Where Are You, My Love"), written by Abdel-Aziz Zein El-Abdeen.



Since his fame in the 1970s and him being known for his Nubian folk-inspired themes, Mounir released tens of patriotic songs throughout his long career that include 'Ezay' that was launched within the 2011 unrest.



Monday 25 January, also marks the tenth anniversary of the 2011 revolution as well as marks Police Day, which commemrates resistance by Egyptian police to British occupation forces in Ismailia in 1952.



Earlier Sunday, the Egyptian army had released a patriotic anthem dedicated to the police forces amid the ongoing celebrations that will continue through to the weekend. Thursday has been approved by the cabinet as an alternative paid day off for public and private sectors.
