Egypt’s Nasserist presidential contender, Sabbahi, says the victory of socialist Hollande in France’s presidential elections is a great victory for leftists

Egypt’s Nasserist presidential contender, Hamdeen Sabbahi, believes the victory of Socialist Francois Hollande over Nicolas Sarkozy in France’s presidential elections is considered to be a great victory for leftists.

In a letter congratulating Hollande on his victory, Sabbahi said, “We received the news of your victory with great pleasure and proud; it is a great victory for the international leftist current.

“I hope in the future there will be a chance for a better Egyptian-French cooperation in a world that is based on Freedom and social equality.”

Hollande beat off competition from his predecessor Nicolas Sarkozy in Sunday's presidential election runoff within half an hour of the last polling stations closing.
