Zamalek officially offload striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' and sign Masry's Burkinabe striker Abdoulaye Cisse for the next three seasons on Tuesday
Zamalek announced on Tuesday that coach Hassan Shehata decided to release star Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' from the team squad for the next season, and revealed that Burkinabe striker Abdoulaye Cisse will wear the shirt of the club for the next three seasons.
''We decided to release Mido due to his absence from the team's trainings in the past days,'' a source in Zamalek management told DPA on Tuesday.
The 29-year old striker will leave his boyhood club after spending one season with the White Knights in which he didn't impress the management by playing only four games.
Former Ajax, Olympique de Marseille, Roma and Tottenham, Mido arrived to Zamalek in January 2011 from Premier League side Middlesbrough, after signing a three and half-year contract.
Mido missed the majority of the past season due to over-weight issues or injury, before he threatened the club board with exiting after they failed to fulfill their financial duties toward him.
On the other hand, striker Abdoulaye Cisse signed a three-year contract with Zamalek on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old striker shined with Masry in Port Said during the last season, scoring eight goals in 13 matches.
According to Zamalek management, the player will receive $450,000 per season.
Zamalek will be obligated to release one of their three foreign players to make room for the newcomer: Benin's striker Razak Otomoyossi, Cameroon's midfielder Alexis Mendomo and Ghanaian defender Karimu Al-Hassan.
According to the Egyptian Football Association rules, clubs have the right to register only three foreigner players in their squad.
