On Friday 25 May, as part of the Contemporary Music Days festival, French jazz duo Aliquid will perform in Zamalek

On Friday 25 May, as part of the Contemporary Music Days festival, jazz group Aliquid invite audiences to their improvisations on progressive jazz at El Sawy Culturewheel. The group is comprised of French musicians Jean-Marc Foussat and Sylvain Guérineau.

The concert is a final element of the rich programme constituting theContemporary Music Days, held between 19 and 25 May.

"Aliquid was created in 2005, half a century after the birth of its two founding members Jean-Marc Foussat and Sylvain Guérineau. Jean-Marc is a sound craftsman – like a fireworks craftsman: synthesisers, electronics, recordings; Sylvain, a tenor saxophonist," read the programme notes.

"Jean-Marc Foussat’s world of sounds has the thickness of chaos and the reality of industrial suburban blast furnaces. The sound world of Sylvain Guérineau is a transparent stream. Their music is like melting snow turning into an avalanche and crashing everything on its way. It is a marvellous nightmare which we are reluctant to leave behind. Not for faint-hearted!"

Programme:

Friday 25 May at 8pm

El Sawy Culturewheel, 26th of July Street, Zamalek
