The Egyptian Administrative Court orders the release of a prominent Islamist, though it is not clear if the order will be implemented
After two years in prison, Egypt's Administrative Court has ordered the early release of prominent Islamist Magdi Ahmad Hussein, leader of the frozen Islamist-leaning Labour Party.
“The decision came after I filed a case to the court two months ago,” Naglaa El-Qalioby, wife of Hussein, told Ahram Online.She is wiling to file another suit on the interior minster for not accepting to release the prominent Islamist.
Egyptian law allows release in some cases when detainees have spend 75 per cent of their due time in prison.
Hussein was sentenced by a military tribunal for entering Gaza "illegally" through a cross-border tunnel.
At time of writing, Hussein has not been released. “I’ll pay him a visit tomorrow, hoping he will get out with me,” El-Qalioby told Ahram Online.
