Ganzouri's cabinet will submit its resignation to Egypt's president after he swears oath before the end of June, but will stay in office until new cabinet is formed

A member of the cabinet told Ahram Arabic that the current interim government, headed by Kamal El-Ganzouri, will submit its resignation to the new president once he is sworn in by the end of June.

The cabinet will hand in its resignation to the president after he is sworn in before the High Constitutional Court and the decision to accept or reject the resignation will be made by the president. The cabinet member also reportedly explained that the cabinetwould continue with its work until the formation of a new cabinet.

Official results of the runoffs in Egypt's first post-Mubarak presidential elections, in which Mubarak's last prime minister Ahmed Shafiq is competing against the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi, will be officially announced on 21 June.

In the weeks prior to presidential elections tensions have arisen between Ganzouri's Cabinet and the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice party (FJP) who hold the largest bloc in the now-dissolved parliament.

According to the military council, the inauguration ceremony will be held by the end of the month, although they have yet to specify the date.
