Ikhwan Online, the oficial website of the Muslim Brotherhood, announced that president-elect Mohamed Morsi will deliver a speech to the nation on Friday afternoon from Tahrir Square, the birthplace of the Egyptian revolution, after he performs the noon prayers at Al-Azhar mosque.
Essam El-Erian, vice-president of the Brotherhood'sFreedom and Justice Party (FJP), had announced on Thursday that the Islamist group would participate in Friday's million-man protest in Tahrir which is organised under the slogan "Handover Power."
The protest was called for by the Revolution’s Board of Trustees, which formed in the wake of last year's Tahrir Square uprising.
The Revolution's Board of Trustees Secretary-General Safwat Hegazy, an Islamist preacher, called on political forces to maintain their ten-day-old sit-in in the flashpoint square until the constitutional addendum passed by SCAF on 18 June 2012 is repealed; parliament's dissolved lower house is reinstated; all political detainees are released; and the SCAF promises not to interfere in the constitution-drafting process.
Six of April Youth Movement, salafist Al-Nour, Islamist Al-Wast Party, the Revolutionary Socialists are also partipating in the protest.
Meanwhile, president-elect Mohamed Morsi will be sworn into office before the HighConstitutional Court on Saturday, the Egyptian presidency announced in an official statement issued on Thursday night.
