Morocco skipper Houssine Kharja expresses frustration over his adventure with Italian Serie A side Fiorentina

Morocco midfielder Houssine Kharja said Wednesday he was mistreated by the supporters of Italian side Fiorentina, whom he left last week after cutting a forlorn figure.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who signed a two-year contract with Fiorentina last summer, terminated his deal by mutual consent.

"When I played at Fiorentina, I was shocked by the players' behaviour in the dressing room," Kharja was quoted as saying by Moroccan paper Mountakhab.

"There were many unacceptable things in the team. There was no team spirit, that's why I was happy to leave the club.

"The fans insulted me several times. They told me to go and sell drugs," he added.

Despite his bitter memories with the club, Kharja hopes his compatriot Mounir El-Hamdaoui, who signed for Fiorentina last week, would enjoy better luck with the team.

"I hope that El- Hamdaoui will not have the same problems. He will need some time for adaptation. I wish him the best," he said.
