Moderate Islamist Wasat Party expresses reservations about choice of Hisham Qandil as Egypt's new prime minister

The moderate Islamist Wasat Party has expressed reservations about President Morsi's decision on Tuesday to appoint Hisham Qandil as new Egypt's new prime minister.

The coming period needs a strong government that can face the broad challenges confronting the country, said Amr Farouk, the party's official spokesman, in a statement Wednesday.

Morsi needs a prime minister with deep knowledge and experience of politics, added Farouk.

Despite the party's reservations about Qandil, it will fulfil its national duty and cooperate with his new government, he said.

"The Wasat Party wishes Qandil success in his difficult task," concluded Farouk.
