Egypt's Human Rights Committee at the upper house of parliament urges the international community for 'quick action' to save Myanmar's Muslims from 'genocide'

The Human Rights Committee of Egypt's Shura Council (upper house of parliament) called for the international community to adopt "quick action" to save the Myanmar's Muslims.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Committee pointed out that the eight-million Muslim community in Myanmar has encountered acts of "genocide and deliberate murder," yet to date the world has not seen any concrete action to stop the violence.

In June almost 200 demonstrators stood in front of Myanmar's embassy in Cairo to protest the deadly sectarian violence in the turbulent state. Members of the April 6 Movement, Salafist groups and the Muslim Brotherhood called for the Embassy of Myanmar in Egypt to be shut down.
