Screenings of movies by Iara Lee at Cairo's Townhouse

'The Suffering Grasses' and 'Cultures of Resistance' will be screened on two consecutive days in downtown Cairo's Townhouse


The Suffering Grasses and Cultures of Resistance, whichwill be screened at Townhouse Factory Space, are films by Iara Lee, a Korean-Brazilian film producer, director and activist.

Screenings of the movies will take place on Tuesday 28 August and Wednesday 29 August and are a result of cooperation between the gallery and Mosireen, an Egyptian media collective of filmmakers and citizen journalists.

The Suffering Grasses looks into the conflict in Syria. The movie aims to give voices to those most affected by the violence.

Cultures of Resistance looks how art can be a tool in the battle for peace and justice. In it, Lee goes from Iran to Burma, and to Palestine and the refugee camps in Lebanon.

Tuesday's screening will be followed by Q&A with the filmmaker, Iara Lee.
