'Farah El-Bahr' Festival to open in Alexandria

Three-day intercultural festival 'Farah El-Bahr' to launch on Wednesday 3 October


Initiated by the Anna Lindh Foundation, and in collaboration with Oyoun Masr Association (The Head of Egyptian Network of ALF),'Farah El-Bahr' Festival (Festivities of the Sea) will take place from Wednesday 3 October until Friday 5 October, featuring a number of musical performances and concerts from Egypt and abroad in Alexandria.

The festival will present a variety of programmes and activities with the participation of 100 artists and seven Euro-Mediterranean countries, including Egypt, Austria, Holland, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey, which will gather together at the symbolic Qaitbay Citadel and several cultural spaces in the city in order to celebrate cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue.

Futhermore, during the three-day festival, a number of international bands from Austria and Turkey will perform. The fesitval will also include art workshops, street art, and an international souk (market).

The festival has also received full support from different Egyptian and International institutions, including the League of Arab States, the European Union as well as the various Egyptian ministries.

Wednesday 3 October

The second edition of the Forum of Young Musicians organised by Agora, funded by the British Council and with the participation of the Austrian Cultural Forum
Cinema Rio at 8pm


Thursday 4 October

Med Muses: an artistic project involving female singers and musicians from Egypt (Dina El-Wadidi) and (Minyeshu) from the Netherlands. Co-organised by Teatro Eskendereya and funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cairo.

Friday 5 October

Concert by Cairokee band, Aida El-Ayoubi, Wasla Band, and Karakeeb Band

Citadel of Quait Bey at 4pm to 1am
