Zidan to miss St. Pauli match due to minor injury

Zidan announced that his back injury is not serious and he will be ready with Egypt for South Africa next month but will miss Dortmund’s Saturday match against St. Pauli


Borussia Dortmund (BVB) forward Mohamed Zidan announced that the back injury he sustained during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Kaiserslautern is not serious and will not prevent him joining the Pharaohs against South Africa on 25 March in the 2012 African Cup of Nations (ACN) qualifiers.

“Scans have revealed that Ihaven't broken anybones. It’s just a knock,” Zidan was quoted as saying on the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) official website.

The Egyptian star played from the bench against Kaiserslautern replacing Lewandowski in the 75thminute, but after only three minutes hewastackled aggressivelyby Brazilian Rodney.

“My doctor recommended that I should have total rest until my back is better,” Zidan added.

The 29-year old player will miss BVB’s match against FC St. Pauli next Saturday but he will likely be ready for national duty against S. Africa next month.

Dortmund are leading Bundesliga table with 52 points, 10 over their runners-up Bayer Leverkusen.
