Award-winning artist Sahar Abdallah is to launch a workshop titled "Teaching children the basics of art," on Saturday, 3 November at the Cultural Centre, which wasestablished by the Integrated Care Society in 1997 in collaboration with the British Council.

The workshop will be held every Saturday of November at 10am.

The aim is to introduce visual art to primary school children through a book prepared by Sahar Abdallah titled Hekayat Fenoun ('Tales of Arts').

In the workshop, Abdallah will introduce four well-known painters; George Bahgoury, Adly Rizkallah, Helmi El-Touni, and Andy Warhol.

Abdallah will read her book, 'Tales of Arts,' to the young workshop participants, as she explains the differences between the art tools and approaches of each of the four artists.

She will also teach students the art of collage, portraiture, and the use of folkloric themes that characterize George Bahgoury’s paintings.

Abdallah exhibited her book at The Mashrabia Gallery for Contemporary Art in an art show titled "A Book and a Painting” last September. She showcased her drawings, especially created for Hekayat Fenoun, accompanied by annotations that guide youth across the history of modern Egyptian art.

Students in the workshops will discover the world of drawing and painting.

The adventure of Fenoun, the story’s protagonist, takes readers on an adventure in which they discover the world of visual art.

Fenoun introduces the young art lovers to various modern Egyptian artists, such as Tahya Halim, Zeinab Al Sageny, Hamed Nada and others, revealing their contrasting styles and stunning paintings.

She built this project to familiarize young Egyptians with art, and to heighten their appreciation of Egyptian modern artwork.

Earlier this year, Abdallah received an award for children illustration books for her book “My Heart is as Small as a Baby” by The Supreme Council of Culture in its annual State Cultural Awards.

Sahar Aballah has illustrated children's books since 2006.
