Last Egyptian out of four, Omar Mosaad, loses final game of Abierto Mexicano de Raquetas to France's Gregory Gaultier
World No. 11, Egypt's Omar Mosaad, has finished second in the Abierto Mexicano de Raquetas squash championship that took place in Mexico, just behind first-seeded Gregory Gaultier.
The veteran Frenchman won his 22nd Tour final title, after beating the 23-year-old Egyptian in straight sets 11-6, 11-8 and 11-5.
Mosaad had a stunning run, beating Alfredo Avila of Mexico 3-0 in the first round, then compatriot and second-seeded Karim Darwish 3-2 in the quarters, before ousting Germany’s Simon Rosner 3-2 in the semis.
Mosaad and Darwish were among four Egyptians to reach the finals as Mohamed El-Shorbagy lost against Gaultier 3-1 in the quarterfinals beforethird-seeded Amr Shabana was surprisingly eliminated by Borja Golan of Spain 3-1 in the first round.
The PSA World Tour International 70 championship is Mexico's biggest-ever tour event, boasting a $70,000 prize.
