Egypt's prosecutor-general has ordered that investigations be opened regarding a complaint filed against a group of opposition figures – the Constitution Party's Mohamed ElBaradei, Nasserist leader Hamdeen Sabbahi, head of the liberal Al-Wafd party Sayyed Badawi, and former presidential candidate and Mubarak-era foreign minister Amr Moussa.

The complaint was filed by former parliamentarian Mohamed El-Omda, who accused the opposition figures of attempting to bring down the regime.

El-Omda accused the four politicians of forming "the national salvation front" and of mobilising people to protest, to pressure the president to withdraw his controversial constitutional declaration.

The four figures have recently formed a coalition called 'the National Salvation Front' to coordinate opposition to the president's declaration of 22 November, which they argued dramatically expanded his powers, as well as opposing the draft constitution and the upcoming constitutional referendum.

The complaint further alleged that the anti-Morsi protests were responsible for the death of 15-year-old Islam Mahmoud, who died on 25 November during clashes between supporters and opponents of the president in the Nile Delta city of Damanhour.

A similar complaint was filed on Tuesday by lawyer Hamed Sadek against the four accused as well as head of the Judges Club Ahmed El-Zend.
