Hani Mahmoud, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, resigns via Twitter, adding he plans to serve Egypt 'outside the governmental frame'

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Hani Mahmoud has confirmed his resignation from the ministerial post on Tuesday evening through his Twitter account, saying that he was not able to adapt to the culture of the government.

Mahmoud, chosen as a minister last August in Egypt’s new cabinet headed by Prime Minister Hisham Qandil, added that he presented his resignation form last month. He will remain in the position until the appointment of a new minister.

“Thanks to Dr. Hisham Qandil, as he understands the reasons for my resignation. I wish the best of luck to the ministry and I will resume serving Egypt but from outside the governmental frame,” Mahmoud tweeted on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Mahmoud stated to the state-run news agency MENA that rumors linked his resignation to the cutting of mobile services in the district of the presidential palace during the clashes between supporters and opponents of the constitutional decree earlier this month.
