Two leading Muslim Brotherhood members have been released from prison today, Thursday.

Khairat Al-Shater, second deputy chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood group, and businessman Hasan Malek left Tora Prison earlier today. The Brotherhood lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maksoud told Ahram Online that the order was given to release the two yesterday, which led their family to camp in front of the prison to await their release.

Al-Shater has been jailed since 2006 after trial by a military tribunal. He was detained following the "Al-Azhar Militia" case tens of Brotherhood students participated militia-like display in late 2006. Al-Shater and others were accused of funding the militia.

Al-Shater was arrested four times since the early 1990s, bringing his total time he spent in jail in the Mubarak era to 10 years.
