Ghanaian star expresses delight over reunion with beloved Portuguese coach, calling Mourinho 'unique' among world's football tactitians

Ghana and Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien believes new coach Jose Mourinho is "unique" among the world's football tacticians.

The Portuguese coach brought the Ghanaian star at Stamford Bridge in 2005, and the duo worked together again during the player's loan spell last season with Real Madrid.

Mourinho was officially introduced as Chelsea's new coach on Monday in hopes of starting a new era with the Premiere League giants after leaving Spain.

Essien expressed his delight over the reunion with his beloved coach.

"He's a lovely man. When you work with him you understand the kind of person he is," the 30-year-old star said via his official YouTube channel.

"I think he's got what most managers don't have," Essien said. "He's very close with his players and is always trying to get the best out of them."

"He knows when you aren't doing well and tells you as much, so you do well in the next game. You have to keep fighting," the former Lyon player concluded.

Under Mourinho's guidance, Essien scored two goals in 20 appearances with Real Madrid last season.
