Ethiopian federation leadership to step down
AP , Monday 24 Jun 2013
Ethiopian Football Federation President Sahilu Gebremariam says he and his entire executive committee will step down in September after apparently fielding an ineligible player in a World Cup qualifier

FIFA is investigating Ethiopia over Minyahile Beyene's participation in the qualifier against Botswana this month, which could cost the Ethiopians a place in the final playoffs for Brazil 2014.

The federation has been fiercely criticized after conceding officials forgot Minyahile was suspended for two yellow cards and Sahilu said Monday after an emergency meeting that he and his executive committee "don't wish to continue under this condition" and would not stand for re-election.

First vice president Teka Asfaw confirmed that he also would stand down, while the federation's secretary general was fired and another vice president resigned in the fallout.
