Pharaoh star's future remains in doubt after Bani Yas benches him for next season

Egypt striker Mohamed Zidan will not be registered in Bani Yas's squad for the new season, the UAE club vice president Mubarak bin Hayroum reveals on Saturday.

Recent reports suggest Zidan will be offloaded by Bani Yas after they left him out of their squad in January after accusing him of feigning injury and signing his compatriot Mohamed Abou-Treika on a short-term loan deal as a replacement.

"The club management will not to register Zidan in the new season's squad and we are searching for a replacement," bin Hayroum told Emarat Alyoum newspaper.

"The player didn't ask to leave the club amicably, but anyway our legal consultant is discussing the matter as we are insisting on our full rights," he added.

The 30-year-old frontman recently ruled out a return to Egypt this summer after falling out of favour with the Emirati club.

Zidan joined Bani Yas in the summer of 2012 after ending a seven-year stint in the German Bundesliga, where he played for Werder Bremen, Mainz, Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund.

He failed to impress in his first season in the Arab Gulf country and fell out with Egypt coach Bob Bradley after skipping an African Cup of Nations qualifier last year without permission.
