Pro-Morsi supporters attempt to storm local police station in Egypt's Giza governorate; security forces fire teargas to stop attack

Supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsi have stormed the Talbiya Police Station in Egypt's governorate of Giza.

The attack came during a pro-Morsi march which was heading to the Nahda Square near Cairo University.

Security forces intervened and fired teargas at the protesters in attempt to stop the attack.

Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya released a statement that one of its members died in the clashes.

Earlier on Friday, an Egyptian soldier was killed in coordinated rocket and machine gun attacks by Islamist militants at army checkpoints and a police base in Egypt's restive Sinai Pennisula.

Morsi was removed from power on Wednesday evening after mass protests rocked the country for several days.
