Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party newspaper has not paid its print costs since arrest of party leaders, says Al-Ahram general manager
General manager of Egypt's Al-Ahram publishing institution Omar Sami said Sunday that there was no problem with the printing of the Muslim Brotherhood's official newspaper, named after the group's political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP).
Sami, however, added that the paper's usual print run of 20,000copies had been decreased to 10,000 due to financial problems, caused by debts worth a total of LE2,400,000.
Last Thursday, the FJP released a statement accusing Al-Ahram of refusing to print the newspaper.
Sami further denied the occurrence of any interference by Al-Ahram in the FJP paper's content. He added that the newspaper had not paid its printing costs since the arrest of party chairman Saad El-Katatni.
El-Katatni is currently being held in police custody for 15 days pending investigation over charges of inciting the killing of eight anti-Morsi protesters in front of the Muslim Brotherhood's headquarters last week.
