ElBaradei: Justice and reconciliation are a must for Egypt
Ahram Online, Tuesday 23 Jul 2013
Transitional justice and national reconciliation based on inclusiveness are the only way to end political turmoil in Egypt, says interim Vice-President Mohamed ElBaradei

Interim Vice-President Mohamed ElBaradei has said transitional justice and national reconciliation are the only options available for Egypt. "The sooner we realise this the more lives will be saved," ElBaradei said via Twitter on Tuesday.

The justice minister has to form a judicial committee to investigate the clashes at the Republican Guard headquarters, he added. Clashes between the army and Muslim Brotherhood supporters at the Republican Guard headquarters killed more than 50 and injured hundreds earlier this month. Prosecutor-General Hisham Barakat has already ordered an investigation into the violence.

We are also waiting for the prosecutor-general to reveal those accused of committing violence in Mansoura, ElBaradei added. Last week, three female supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood died during clashes in Mansoura.
