A delegation of the African Union Wise Men Committee visited late Thursday Cairo's Rabaa Al-Adawiya sit-in, the stronghold of ousted president Mohamed Morsi's supporters.
The delegation toured the sit-in to check on the pro-Morsi demonstrators, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
On Tuesday, the African Union delegation also met with Morsi to discuss the current political situation and attempt to find a way out of the current crisis.
The delegation also met with interim President Adly Mansour, General Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, interim Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei and Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy. They also met with representatives from the April 6 Youth Movement and the 'Rebel' (Tamarod) campaign.
Supporters of Morsi have been holding a sit-in at Rabaa Al-Adawiya Mosque since 28 June, days ahead of mass rallies against the now ousted president. On 3 July, General
Commander of the Armed Forces Abdel Fattah El-Sisi removed Morsi from his post as president announcing a new roadmap for Egypt's future.
