Supporters of the deposed Islamist president reportedly attacked Christian facilities in Minya during Friday mass rallies

Supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsi stormed into two churches and two schools in Upper Egypt's Minya’s Mallawi on Friday.

They attacked and looted the Catholic and the Anglican Churches as well as the Good Shepherd School and the Tahrir Schools Complex, an Aswat Masriya eyewitness reported. They also torched the Anglican Church, she added.

Some residents heard explosions in the area surrounding the Anglican Church. The source of these explosions could not be immediately verified.

Several churches and Christian facilities have been attacked by Morsi supporters since Wednesday, after security forces moved to forcibly disperse the two pro-Morsi's sit-ins in Cairo which resulted in the killing and injury of hundreds.

Deadly clashes erupted across Egypt on Friday as thousands of supporters of the deposed president Mohamed Morsi took to the streets to protest against the "military coup" of 3 July and for the reinstatement of Morsi.
