Egypt's Euro Film Panorama in Cairo cinemas 27 Nov-7 Dec

Film production and distribution company Misr International Films announced that the 6th edition of the European Film Panorama will light Cairo's big screens from 27 November to 7 December

Defying the political unrest that compelled its postponement and the cancellation of major cinematic events – most notably the Cairo International Film Festival -- the sixth edition of the European Film Panorama will take place in Cairo film theatres from 27 November to 7 December, announced its organising production and distribution company Misr International Films.

Founded in 1972 by internationally-renowned filmmaker Youssef Chahine, the company launched the Panorama in 2004. The event presents a number of different programmes, including ‘European Selections’, ‘Debut Work’, a special section for documentary films, as well as ‘Panorama Classics’ -- screening this year a newly-restored version of French director Alain Resnais’ Hiroshima Mon Amour, based on the novel by Marguerite Duras.

Director and producer Marianne Khoury, director of the European Film Panorama, said the collection of films to be screened in this year’s edition is the result of a year-long thorough and careful selection process that began as soon as last edition ended. She added that the Panorama seeks this year to hold screenings in additional movie theatres across the capital, in order to reach a larger and more diverse audience.

Ahram Online will be covering the 6th edition of the European Film Panorama from November 27 to December 7 as official media sponsor.
