Ahmed Ali confirms injury of six military personnel during Saturday explosion, blames 'sectarian factions' for attack
Egyptian military spokesperson Ahmed Ali has labelled the car bomb explosion outside an Ismailia military intelligence building on Saturday a "terrorist attack" against the Egyptian people.
In a statement released on his Facebook page Saturday, Ali confirmed that a car bomb targeting the military intelligence building left six army personnel injured.
"This is a continuation of a series of cowardly terrorist attacks committed by sectarian factions against the people of Egypt," he added.
The bomb also caused partial damage to the building's exterior walls, Ali explained.
A car bomb exploded near an army intelligence building in Ismailia, northeast of Cairo, security sources and state media reported earlier on Saturday.
Sources said a second undetonated car bomb was located during a security sweep of the area, Reuters reported.
Since the popularly-backed military ouster of former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July, security personnel have faced escalating attacks by alleged militants in response to Morsi's removal.
