AFP, Monday 25 Nov 2013

Pro-Western Ukrainians on Monday scuffled with police near the government building in a second day of major protests against a decision to scrap a key pact with the European Union.

Up to 1,000 protesters had gathered near government headquarters in the capital Kiev in a bid to force President Viktor Yanukovych to sign the political and trade pact with the EU this week.

Some of the protesters attempted to enter the government building but were forced back by police with tear gas, an AFP reporter at the scene said.
