Alam Laysa Lana (A World Not Ours) (Lebanon/UK/Denmark 2012)

A World Not Ours is an intimate and often humorous portrait of three generations of exiled refugees, in the refugee camp of Einel-Helweh in southern Lebanon. Based on a wealth of personal recordings, family archives, and historical footage, the film is a sensitive and illuminating study of belonging, friendship, and family.

Hiroshima Mon Amour (Hiroshima My Love) (France 1959)

An actress arrives in Hiroshima to star in a film about peace, where she meets a Japanese man and they quickly become lovers and confidants. She narrates to the story of her teenage years in Nevers during WWII, how she fell in love with a German soldier and the humiliation she was subjected to during the liberation.
