Prominent activists Ahmed Douma, Ahmed Maher and Mohamed Adel to stand trial for unauthorised protesting and assaulting police
The trial of three prominent activists for breaking the protest law and assaulting police will begin on Sunday, prosecutors have said.
April 6 Youth Movement founder Ahmed Maher and activist Ahmed Douma are already in police custody, while April 6 leading member Mohamed Adel has not been arrested.
The charges stem from a protest outside the Supreme Court in downtown Cairo on Saturday, during which seven policemen were allegedly assaulted.
The trio faces a numberof other charges including thuggery and blocking traffic.
