Minister of Tourism Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour welcomes Russia's move to ‎allow flights to Egypt after weeks of unrest
Minister of Tourism Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour said Thursday that Russia has finally allowed flights to Egypt.
Russian authorities prevented flights to the country in the wake of turmoil during the 25 January Revolution that led to the ouster former President Hosni Mubarak.
Russia’s decision to hold off flights took its toll on Egypt's tourism revenue over the past weeks. In 2010, 2.85 million Russian tourists visited to the country.With security relatively returned, Russia has finally allowed it citizens to fly to Egypt again.
For years, Russians have comprised the majority of tourists in Egypt.
