Abdallah, appointed by ousted president Mohamed Morsi, has been accused of placing bugging equipment in the office of the General Prosecution.
Abdallah will also be investigated on charges of collaborating with "Judges for Egypt," a group of judges believed to be close to the Muslim Brotherhood, who helped monitorthe 2012 presidential elections won by Morsi.
Abdallah is accused of collaborating with the group to reveal election results ahead of any formal announcement.
The investigations will open at Cairo's High Court headquarters.
The accusations were initially filed by current Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat, whoalleges he found spying equipment at the office of the General Prosecution.
Morsi's appointment of Abdallah, replacing Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud, was condemned by judges who argued the move was illegal on the grounds that the only body with authorityto appoint the prosecutor general is the Supreme Judiciary Council.
