Ghana midfielder Michael Essien rubbishes reports saying he had failed a medical at AC Milan

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien said on Sunday he had passed a medical at AC Milan, hitting out at Italian reports suggesting otherwise.

"Haters will broadcast your failure but whisper your success.Medicals done, looking forward to start my new life with AC MIlan," Essien said on his Twitter account.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica claimed that the 31-year old failed to pass a medical because of his old knee injury as he suffered consecutive rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament back in 2010 and 2011.

Essien travelled to Milan on Friday after being given the green light by Chelsea. He was supposed to pass the medical early on Saturday and pen the deal.

Essien fell out of favour with Jose Mourinho this season and was even left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad, which would make him eligible to feature in Europe's elite competition with Milan.

AC Milan are desperate to reinforce their squad as they seek to bounce back from a disappointing league run. The Rossoneri, who are 11th in the Serie A table, have recently appointed Dutchman Clarence Seedorf as their new coach in an attempt to save the season.
