Pele to make his first visit to Egypt since 1973 as part of Coca-Cola's promotion campaign of its football league for youth social clubs

Football great Pele of Brazil will visit Egypt on 16 February as part of Coca-Cola's promotion campaign of its football league for youth social clubs, the beverage maker said.

The 73-year-old, who will spend two days in Egypt, will hold a news conference upon his arrival.

"I give everything to the football. And the more I give, the more football gives back to me. Copa Coca-Cola tries to find the best young footballers and gives them the chance to be the best players in the world," Pele said in a Coca-Cola ad.

"Let's start the journey, with me and Coca-Cola … opening ceremony in Egypt."

Pele's last visit to Egypt was in 1997 as he watched the final game of the FIFA World U-17 between Spain and Brazil on 21 September at the Cairo International Stadium.

24 years earlier he had also played at the Cairo International Stadium when he was part of a powerful Santos side that crushed Cairo giants Ahly 5-0 in a friendly game in 1973.

He scored twice in that game before a packed crowd who were jubilant to watch some prominent stars.

Pele, who is one of the world's greatest-ever players, won three World Cups with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
