Clashes at Cairo University as Mass Communication students call for Dean's departure
Students at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University have clashed with each other following protests against Faculty Dean Sami Abdul-Aziz
A number of students at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University clashed with each other following calls by some for the departure of Faculty Dean Sami Abdul-Aziz, which were opposed by other students who want life on campus to get back to normal.
The anti-Abdul-Aziz students went on an indefinite hunger strike and staged a sit-in whilst others tried to disperse them forcefully, resulting in a brawl that lasted for about 15 minutes. Some female students passed out in the process.
Former Faculty of Mass Communication Dean Laila Abdul-Megid eventually stepped in to ease the tension.
